designed to encourage compliance

Most of the antibiotics developed by Ceva are DELICAMENTS®: quarter-scored palatable tablets.

The palatability of the tablets contributes to better compliance among dogs and, above all, cats, which are often difficult animals to treat. When an antibiotic treatment is prescribed by the vet, you need to make sure to use antibiotics properly.

Follow:

• the DOSAGE: give the correct dose and make sure your pet has actually swallowed any oral medication.
• the FREQUENCY: try to give medication at regular intervals, e.g. every 12 hours or every 24 hours.
• the DURATION: always complete the total duration of treatment even if you think your pet feels better.
• your veterinarian ADVICES: follow the instructions fully (such as giving the medication with or without food) and never reuse leftover drugs and dispose any remaining product safely.

The goal of this good practice is not only to cure the infection but to prevent the development of resistant bacteria, which means that antibiotics may not work when needed. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria can pass from your pet to your family

and inversely. That’s why resistances to antibiotics threaten the health of your pets and your family.

It is for this reason that Ceva has developed tasty, meat-flavoured tablets which make the administration of medicine much easier and avoid irregularities in treatment.

 

Furthermore, the original dosages chosen by Ceva for its antibiotics, as well as the precision of quarter-scored tablets, allow vets to prescribe antibiotic molecules with great accuracy. The aim of an antibiotic treatment is to ensure high concentrations of antibiotics always remaining well above a threshold known as the MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration). The precision of dosage for ® is intended to facilitate this objective and avoid any underdosing.

All the main families of molecules are available in this dosage form developed by Ceva Santé Animale : first-line antibiotics (beta-lactam antibiotics, lincosamide) and second-line antibiotics (fluoroquinolones).

GRAM, Guidance for the Rational use of AntiMicrobials

To take the difficult path of rational prescription for dogs and cats a step further, Ceva has provided an aid for veterinarians in the form of the GRAM (Guidance for the Rational use of AntiMicrobials). Ceva brought together a multi-disciplinary group of 10 experts from 7 European countries.The result of those meetings is published as a very practical guidance book for all practitioners.
