Tours 6th. July 2016 - The 11th International Symposium on Marek’s Disease and Avian Herpes viruses organized by INRA* opened today at the Vinci Convention Center, in Tours, France.
The Symposium, held every two years, gathers scientific experts from across the globe to discuss the latest advances in the control of Marek’s disease, Avian Herpes viruses and infectious laryngotracheitis.
Today, Marek's disease is largely controlled through vaccination in most parts of the world. However, the corresponding category of viruses recently returned to the forefront of scientific attention due to the development and success of vector vaccines created from the turkey herpes virus (HVT).
Dr. Yannick Gardin, Ceva’s Science & Innovation Director said: “The herpes viruses are one of the best supports to construct new technology vaccines that bring significant improvements in terms of prevention, safety, convenience and welfare. All this is a result of in-depth scientific research and development work that we can be very proud of, because only a decade ago, there were very few and no real presence of new technology vaccines in the field. Our goal is not to stop here.”
